Course Description

The greatest risks to occupants of an electric vehicle post collision is entrapment with auto fire. We teach the ability to safely, quickly and efficiently extricate victims from these types of incidents. This class covers modern extrication techniques to rapidly extricate victims from electric vehicles. In addition to the need for modern techniques, this class incorporates EV battery monitoring and cooling, along with extrication with the use of SCBA due to the toxic/flammable nature of the EV batteries and potential heat production from thermal runaway.

All students must meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 2008 Ed. Chapter 5.

Evaluation Only

Evaluators will be available for Vehicle Extrication for the Electric Vehicle Crash evaluation on last day of session. Students challenging the evaluation for the first time are required to sign up for the entire course. Signing up for the evaluation day and/or practice days is limited to students recertifying or retaking the test. Recertification students are required to sign up for the evaluation day and at least one practice day at a minimum. At least 2 days is highly recommended.
